The Atlantic City Beer Festival takes place April 4 and April 5, 2014.

The ‘Atlantic City Beer Fest’ returns to the Atlantic City Convention Center for the ninth straight year on April 4 and 5.

More than 150 breweries from across the United States will showcase their drinks at the event. However, the main focus of the Beer Festival is the promotion and education of craft beers and a celebration of the brewers that created them.

Guests surely will not want to miss the amazing 2014 musical lineup featuring Saves the Day, Dirty Heads and Less Than Jake.

Saves the Day performs 7 to 11 p.m. Friday, April 4; Dirty Heads perform noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 5; and Less Than Jake performs 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday, April 5.

The event is the perform opportunity for beer enthusiasts, beer lovers and the casual beer drinkers to speak to company representatives and brewers responsible for some of their favorite brews.

April’s event will also include culinary demonstrations from prominent area chefs, beer seminars hosted by famous personalities and brewers and some other more “off the wall” activities.

The festival will offer a “Designated Driver” ticket available for $15 at the door to encourage attendee responsibility and usage of public transportation.

Tickets for the 2014 Atlantic City Beer and Music Festival go on sale Thursday, Nov. 21. Tickets are $55 in advance and are available online at ACBeerFest.com, Ticketmaster and are $60 at the door (if available).

The weird, the bizarre and the odd are getting ready to gather for a weekend of entertainment, education, commerce and camaraderie to celebrate all things horror and beyond, and make it the first weekend of its kind in the history of Atlantic City.

Hosted by Tropicana Casino & Resort, Bizarre A.C. comes to the Atlantic City Boardwalk 5 to 10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, noon to 10 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14 and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15.

Admission is $20 for a one-day pass, $30 for a two-day pass and $40 for a full weekend pass. An adult must accompany anyone under the age of 16. Children 10 and under get in free with a parent or guardian.

The event includes a variety of interactive components, a bizarre cast of characters and some of the most entertaining and crazy band of misfits you might ever see.

Attendees will be able to shop with the unique exhibitors of the bizarre bazaar as well as enjoy the sideshow gathering and Hall of Oddities. Horror movie fans are sure to enjoy movie screenings, complete with question and answer sessions, and the chance to delve into the minds of some up-and-coming film makers.

Bizarre A.C. will also host the “who’s who” in horror personalities featuring Kane Hodder from Friday the 13th, Doug Bradley from Pinhead, Heather Langenkamp from Nightmare on Elm Street, Tony Todd from Candyman, Bill Moeseley from 1,000 Black Corpses, John Kassir from Crypt Keeper as well as many others.

On Saturday, the event offers attendees the chance to show off their best monster, zombie, creature or alien costume in the Bizarre A.C. Costume Contest for a chance to win great prizes. Attendees can also join chefs and culinary stars in Bizarre Bites, a one-of-a-kind dining experience.

Scores, the first strip club inside an Atlantic City casino, will be showing the Manny Pacquiao vs. Brandon Rios fight beginning at 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23.

Scores is located inside the Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort and is showing the fight in its Black Box Cabaret Room.

Admission is $30 and advanced and group reservations can be made by calling 855-500-SCORES. You must be 21 years of age or older to attend the event.

Flyers legend, and current Comcast SportsNet TV hockey analyst, Bill Clement will be bringing his weekly radio show to Chickie’s and Pete’s inside the Tropicana Casino and Resort Wednesday, Oct. 30.

The show, “Bill Clement’s Hockey World,” will be broadcast live beginning at 6 p.m. Former Flyers player Gary Dornhoefer will also be at the broadcast.

Somers Point Restaurant Week kicks off Friday
The Somers Point Business Association will hold its 4th Annual Restaurant Week from Friday, Nov. 8, through Sunday, Nov. 17. The event features participating Somers Point restaurants offering prix-fixe menu pricing for lunch and dinner. Benefits from the event will go to the Community Food Bank of New Jersey.
New to the event this year is Passport Dining, which offers guests a “passport” when dining in any of the 12 participating restaurants. As guests “travel” from place to place, they can collect stickers for their passport each time they dine. Each sticker serves as an entry for a $100 gift card.
Participating $11.07 two-course fixed-price lunch menu restaurants are Charlie’s Bar & Restaurant, The Doc’s Place, Emilio’s Pizza Restaurant, Fitzpatrick’s Deli & Steakhouse, Greate Bay Country Club, Gregory’s Restaurant and Bar, Latz’s by the Bay and The Windjammer.

‘Taste of Home’ cooking show returns to Galloway 

   The world’s No. 1 cooking publication “Taste of Home Cooking” will return to Galloway Township for a deliciously entertaining evening featuring exhibits, cooking shows and restaurant samples 5 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, at Stockton Seaview Hotel and Golf Club.
The Taste of Home Cooking Show will feature exhibitors, a behind-the-scenes reception for VIP ticket holders, food samples from local restaurants, Lite Rock 96.9 WFPG-FM’s “Welcome Show,” Taste of Home shows and many other events.
Culinary Specialist Eric Villegas will be in attendance at the event. Villegas conducts cooking school shows throughout the country.
“I thoroughly enjoy meeting so many enthusiastic fans of Taste of Home,” he says in a statement. “They inspire me with their love and cooking and support for our program. I really enjoy the camaraderie that is built working with the local volunteers in putting together the big show.”
Villegas studied liberal arts at Michigan State University and, after that, he moved to France where he attended Anne Willan’s LaVarenne Ecole de Cuisine and Steve Spurrier’s Academie du Vin.
Following two years abroad, he returned to continue his studies at New England Culinary Institute.

Dining / Careme’s celebrating autumn with special dinner
Careme’s, the student-run, gourmet restaurant at Atlantic Cape Community College’s Academy of Culinary Arts, is celebrating autumn with a special three-course fall harvest dinner special for $19.95 per person, plus tax and gratuity through Nov. 25.
Under the direction of Chef Steven Cozzi, students will prepare an a la carte menu featuring appetizers, soups, salads, entrees and desserts. Fresh and seasonal fruits and vegetables harvested from Atlantic Cape’s organic greenhouse and herb garden will also offer patrons a farm-to-table experience. Student chefs also make all desserts, breads and rolls. Tableside cooking may also be offered.
Careme’s is located at Atlantic Cape’s Mays Landing campus at 5100 Black Horse Pike. Dinner seating begins at 6:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, and the restaurant is open August through December and January through May when classes are in session. Following the birth of Kanye West and Kim Kardashian’s first child, North West, Kanye is back on the touring circuit. And he’s bringing his tour to A.C.

Kanye West, the 21-time Grammy Award winning rap artist, will bring his Yeezus tour to Boardwalk Hall Atlantic City Saturday, Feb. 22.

Tickets, priced at $49, $69, $79, $89, $99 and $199 go on sale 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 10, at the Boardwalk Hall box office, online at TicketMaster.com or by phone at 800-736-1420.

The two-week Northeast run of the tour, which began in October 2013, will be Kanye fans’ last chance to see the tour’s creative concept in North America.

‘The Beast’ Dan Severn to host workout, meet and greet and attend fight at Revel Saturday

UFC Hall of Famer Dan ‘The Beast’ Severn will spend the weekend at Revel Casino Hotel in Atlantic City.

Severn will hold a meet and greet with fans, host a workout and attend the World Series of Fighting bout between Andrei Arlovski and Mike Kyle.

Severn’s workout is open to the public and begins 10 a.m. Saturday at Revel’s SkyGarden on the lobby level. The meet and greet will be held 2 p.m. Saturday between the casino and ocean side parking garage elevators. He will also sit ringside with fans to watch the fight 8 p.m. Saturday at Ovation Hall.

Severn made his Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) debut in 1994 and was given his ‘The Beast’ nickname by Jim Brown during one of his UFC fights. He has won two eight man tournaments and won the Ultimate Ultimate championship in 1996.

His last fight in the octagon was in September 2000. He finished his career with a record of 101-19-7.
